About

Alchemy began as a school project during my last semester of school. It was far too ambitious to complete during the semester, but I continued to work on it (completing it 2 years later, nearly to the day). I've spent hundreds of hours (at least 300, but probably closer to 400). I had a lot of fun making the film and learned a lot in the process. There are some scenes I'm not entirely happy with (mostly the ones I animated 2 years ago) but its time to call this thing complete and move on. I hope you enjoy it.

Alchemy was made using several different versions of Blender (including some experimental builds). All of the final rendering was done with version 2.43. It was important to me to always stay on the cutting edge of Blender. One interesting thing I noticed is that the features I needed seemed to always be available for me when I needed them. For example, when I started the film I had no idea how I would do the Mad Scientist's hair or the water scenes. Then strand rendering and the fluid simulator were added to Blender. Because of this I have every confidence in Blender as a tool for 3D animation and I have no doubt it will do great things in the future.
